The first complete dictionary and grammar of Tahitian, by John Davies, 1772-1855, who arrived as a missionary in Tahiti in 1801 and worked there until his death. His "Grammar of the Tahitian Dialect" was printed at Bruder's Point Tahiti in 1823, and was printed for the second time here at Papeete, where the press moved in 1843.
