Parsimony in Egypt under British protection

Egypt, Ministry of the Interior, Prisons Department Interim Report of the Prison Diets Committee. Cairo Government Press 1917
First edition Folio, pp.63. A very good copy in the original cloth-backed boards. University of London bookplate and discreet withdrawn stamp on front end paper.

A report on diet based on the premise that prisoners were too well fed and substantial savings could be made. From 1914 to 1922 Egypt was a British protectorate. This was perhaps one of the austerity measures that contributed to the 1919 revolution.
