First edition. Six volumes, large folio (44 x 32 cm). With 300 plates, mostly collotypes but a few in colour. Parallel English and Chinese text. No.0335 of 1500 copies printed. A fine set bound in Chinese-style pictorial silk wrappers, contained in two contemporary folding cloth portfolios. Portfolios a little faded.

Three hundred Chinese paintings, many published for the first time in this catalogue, selected from the superb collection of the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, all magnificently illustrated. Each illustration is accompanied by a critical note in Chinese and English; the preliminary text includes several essays in English and Chinese.
