The atlas volume issued to accompany Bahgat's account of his excavations of the same title published in Paris in 1921. Fustat, the first capital of Islamic Egypt, was destroyed in the twelfth century. The photographs range from views of the dig sites to recovered architectural details and ceramic fragments. Issued under the auspices of the Musée de l'Art Arabe, the forerunner to the modern Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo.
