Albert Schultens, 1686 – 1750, Dutch philologist, was professor of Oriental languages at Leiden from 1732 until his death. He was arguably the most important teacher of Arabic in Europe of his day. This text is a critique of an edition of the Hamasa, an Arabic literary anthology.
