Specimen Pages of Korean Moveable Type.
Collected & described by... Los Angeles Dawsons Book Shop 1966
First edition Folio, pp.73, frontispiece, 22 mounted specimens of Korean moveable type. No.170 of 300 copies. A very good copy in original cloth. Rather frayed plain dust wrapper. Some of the specimens have ancient stains.
Twenty-two specimens of Korean printing from moveable types from the earliest fully developed type to a font of 1858 are included in this book, to illustrate the development of Korean printing. Each specimen is from a different movable type font, and is described in the facing text. McGovern, who served as Director of Education to the US Army in Korea, began with a full complement of original specimens, but only had enough of each example to complete the primary edition of 95 copies; later numbered copies, as this example, have a varying count of original versus facsimile specimens.
