John Randall, Books of Asia

We are back in London at last - cold but invigorated by our travels to Hong Kong, Thailand and Laos. Although we don´t usually think so far ahead, we are already looking forward to a repeat trip to Southeast Asia at the end of this year. The Hong Kong Book Fair for 2010 will be December 3rd -5th.

Two years ago, after the sad death of Ronald Gooch, we purchased the remaining stock of Ad Orientem, the leading Oriental bookseller from the 1960´s to 1991. Merging these 50,000 books with our own holdings is an enormous and ongoing task. We are currently cataloguing part of this collection of books on the Middle East. This collection is strong the Ottoman Empire and Iran, and has much early material on languages, particularly Arabic.

Watch this website for titles added weekly, if not daily.

Cataloguing of our own stock continues apace too - though somewhat more slowly. We have rather neglected India and Southeast Asia recently but are working to remedy this.

Please remember that we do hold a large stock on all aspects of Asia, so do ask if you are looking for a particular title that does not appear.

We will also be exhibiting this summer at the London Book Fair at Olympia, June 3rd - 5th, and attending the ILAB Congress in Bologna in September
